Maintaining your swimming pool and spa pool can be cost-effective and less time-consuming if a few simple guidelines are followed.
How long should I run my pool pump?
For a standard pool pump during the summer it is recommended that the filter should run for 8 to 10 hours a day and whenever people are using the pool.
For an energy-efficient pool pump, these times can be extended to suit your pool size and pump settings.
Your summer running time may be halved for the winter period, however, ensure that you regularly get the pool water tested throughout this period to ensure it is correctly balanced.
What is the correct water level for my pool?
The ideal water level is halfway up the skimmer opening, this ensures the correct skimming action. Do not overfill your pool, as it reduces the effectiveness of the skimmer and wastes water.
How often should test my pool water?
How often you should test your pool water is influenced by many factors including the temperature, rainfall, how often you use your pool and how many people use your pool etc.
We recommend that during the swimming season that you should bring in a sample every 4 weeks and during the off-season every 8 weeks.
