Just because you have a pool doesn’t mean you have to be the one to clean it! Is there something else you would rather do than cleaning your swimming pool? There are a number of options available to save you time when it comes to pool cleaning. Let’s split the options out into 2 categories that we’re going to call Automatic Cleaning and Intelligent Cleaning.
Automatic Cleaning
So, what do we mean by automatic cleaning? This is where suction cleaners and robotic pool cleaners come in. You are still needed to initiate the cleaning, but you can walk away once the cleaner has started and the cleaning will happen automatically for you.
Suction cleaners
Suction cleaners are powered by your pump and filter. They randomly move around your pool and ‘suck’ up debris. The large debris is vacuumed up through the hoses and into your skimmer basket if you use a vacuum plate or into your filter along with the fine debris which all goes to the filter. Commonly recognised examples of suction cleaners include the Hayward Navigator or a wide range of cleaners commonly referred to as a Barracuda.
Robotic cleaners
Robotic cleaners really have taken over from suction cleaners as they’ve become more affordable. Some robots are now only slightly more expensive than buying a good quality suction cleaner. Robotic cleaners are independent of your pump and filter and are run by electricity. All the debris that they ‘suck’ up is trapped inside the robot so they do not add to the load of the pump or filter. They are extremely cheap to run (cheaper than running a suction cleaner) and simple to operate and maintain. Examples of robots available in NZ include Dolphin, Hayward and Zodiac.
Intelligent Cleaning
This is cleaning that is performed by a pool technician. Automatic cleaning is great and does save you time, but the automatic cleaner can’t see debris in the pool, won’t notice if the water level is a little low or keep an eye/ear out for telltale signs of a problem like hearing a noisy pump and knowing the bearings need replacing or seeing a small leak on the pump and knowing the mechanical seal has failed.
We offer 2 standard ‘intelligent cleaning’ pool service plans and if necessary can tailor a solution especially for you. Our standard options are ‘Premium Pool Service’ and ‘Essential Pool Service’
Our Premium Pool Service includes:
